Our Hiking Trails
We are more of a rustic destination, as opposed to luxury hiking trails in South Africa. This is something to keep in mind. The ultimate aim of our lodge is to provide you with a complete break away from the busy day to day activities and get back to nature. The trails aren’t meant to be a challenge, but rather a peaceful meander that allows you the time to explore.
Of our three hiking trails in Mpumalanga, you can choose one that allows you to enjoy a day long, slow paced walk as well as a hike that can take two days to fully enjoy. And then there is the famous Num Num Trail which will be a 5-day hiking experience that you can break up, and complete your own way.
Bermanzi is the perfect weekend retreat and guests can rest knowing that we limit the number of people we have staying with us. This ensures that the hiking trails are never crowded and that our accommodation is always a peaceful retreat after a long day.

All of our accommodation is self-catering. We have 3 options when it comes to our accommodation, each of which is designed to suit the climate in which we have built Bermanzi. In winter, our fireplaces will warm your heart, while in summer, a cooling mountain breeze keeps the intense Mpumalanga heat at bay.
Families can stay comfortably at the Vakashani Guesthouse and church or school groups can settle into The Stables. Couples looking for a quiet, romantic retreat can book In The Rocks for 2.
